Camp GetAway: Be As Busy As You Want
One of the many charms of Camp GetAway is that it offers a wide range of activities in which you can participate or not. If you’d rather hike or read a good book while others are trying their hand at archery, that’s fine.
Ginny and I chose not to learn tie-dying,
but many of the gals at camp really did want to do it. Dozens of colorful t-shirts were hung out to dry and we did enjoy looking at them. Instead, we took a hike down around the lake. We wanted to see more of this beautiful mountain area.
Other gals joined small discussion groups on topics that were of interest to then. Still others went for yoga and dance.
Some made campy picture frames of all natural materials. There was an organized hike, belly dance lessons, scrapbooking, karaoke, bunco and plain old gabbing. We participated in an excellent photography workshop run by Helen Cherry, an accomplished photography artist in portraiture. Learned a lot about posing subjects for a photo, digital camera tips and more.
Indulgent Pleasures, Too.
Now one thing kids probably don’t get at away camp
is the service of a certified massage therapist or esthetician. Camp GetAway’s director, Patti, brings up a great staff whose many talents and skills make for a terrific camp experience. Ginny and I both opted for a massage. Deep and invigorating after our long hike. Other gals chose facials, manicures and pedicures.
Camp GetAway was a memorable experience. The staff members were high energy and personable, making sure that campers’ needs were met and that they were having a good time. We met a wide range of women, participated in activities we might have never tried, and got a good dose of let-down-your-hair-and-have-fun R and R.
Next Camp GetAway session is September 19-21. Check it out and start planning a fall camping experience for yourself or with friends — you’ll treasure it forever.
